Labor Day
September 4, 2026
Hello HXC Community,
Just a reminder that we will not have practice tonight. After a great few weeks, our team has earned a well-deserved break!
This week brought back some brutal temperatures, which forced us indoors. Indoor cross country practices can be particularly boring when we're going up and down the halls, but our team responded incredibly well. In fact, they put together probably our three best practices in a row!
One positive about running indoors is the controlled environment. The 76-degree temperature and zero humidity allowed our athletes to push the pace in a way they haven't been able to all season. Hopefully, this will be a great confidence builder as we head into the next portion of our season.
Looking Ahead:
Coming out of Labor Day, we will have a meet on Thursday at Oakhurst Forest Preserve in Aurora, where we will compete against Jefferson, Simmons, and Magnet Academy.
We have told the team to take a few days off from running over the weekend. However, toward the end of the weekend, a few short, comfortable-pace runs would be a great way to get the body ready for the week ahead. A bike ride, swim, or participation in another sport would also be perfectly fine.
The goal is simply to stay active and keep our bodies ready for the next push, which begins on Tuesday.
Hopefully everyone has a relaxing and well-rested Labor Day weekend. We look forward to seeing everyone next week!
