Great First Few Weeks

Hello HXC Community,
It’s been a great first two weeks of the season so far! We had a great turnout for our spike night and have many athletes racing in spikes who have not done so before. We also had our color run, movie night, and time trial. Results can be found on runhxc.com under the results tab. You can also sign your athlete in using his/her first and last name as the username and Herget as the password. Once logged in, they can keep track of their progress throughout the year as well as see pace per mile and make notes of each race. Let me know if you have any questions.
We also named our captains for the 2017 season. Congratulations to our girl captains of Ella Henry, Megan Sporny, Devon Tomas, Jenna Stuck, Karina Juarez, Kailey Lundberg, Kate Ochsenschlager, and Trinity Bali. Our boy’s leaders will be Ryan Watts, Brandon Ngsong, Aiden Hobson, Andy Sporny, Mario Ayala, Jay Jenkins, Justin Kish, Brock Beatus, Zach Noe, David Simpson, Nate Lindstrom, and Nate Hodge. Captains were chosen on their captain applications that they filled out at the end of last season. We are confident in their leadership abilities and look forward to them leading our team during the 2017 season.
A special round of applause to our sixth graders! They have done a wonderful job in the early part of the season! Transitioning to a new building, joining the cross country team, and the new schedule can be a bit overwhelming, but our 6th graders have responded wonderfully! They are setting goals within each practice and are beginning to learn what it takes to be a successful student athlete. We’re looking forward to watching them improve as the season progresses.
This upcoming week we have two meets. Tuesday, we will be at Lincoln Park in Aurora, and on Thursday we will be at home. At away meets, you can take your child home, but please sign out with a coach. At home meets, there is no sign out. We encourage all our athletes to try and stay to the end of the meet to cheer on their teammates! We will have our team pictures on Wednesday. I will give out forms tomorrow, and athletes will need to bring their uniform on Wednesday. Friday will be our “Hawaiian” theme. Bright colors, leighs, and all things tropical are encouraged attire!
