First meet success!
September 3, 2017
Hello HXC Community,
Another great week is in the books for our team! We are continuing the base building portion of our season where we are trying to run big miles and get our bodies prepared for the invite portion of our season. We had two meets in three days, which is less than ideal, but we responded well! We had two Herget School records go down as Ryan Watts set the boys record with a 10:57, and Megan Sporny set the girls record with a 11:29! One group I’d like to highlight is our 7th graders. Sometimes our 7th graders can get overshadowed by our talented 8th graders, but they are starting to make a name for themselves! We had eight 7th graders who ran this week, who were also on the team last year. All eight of them set personal records on the home course! Carter Thorell from (14:15 to 13:28), Charles Morrison from (14:47 to 13:57), Quinn Leonard from (14:02 to 13:01), Amanda Frazier from (16:49 to 14:43), Lizzie Gould from (13:29 to 13:06), Tori Lopez from (14:41 to 12:57), Kenzy Hobson from (13:28 to 13:03), and Jazyln Aguire from (28:24 to 16:27). Not only did they put up big PR’s, but they also did it in August! Elite job by the 7th graders! All results are posted on runhxc.com. Also, under the schedule tab, you can view the complete meet results from a particular meet. I’m still waiting on Thursdays meet, but it should be up in a few days.
This week we have three meets. Tuesday we are at Murphy, Thursday we are at home, and Saturday is our first invite of the season at Run The Plank. Although we value the weekday meets, the Saturday Invites are where we really want to make our mark! Run the Plank will be the first chance our 6th and 7th graders will get to run only against athletes their same age. I have no doubt they will show out well!
Headbands are in, make sure your child sees me if they ordered one. We also have many extra for sale if you would like to purchase one for $6.00. Finally, we will have an optional practice tomorrow if anyone is in town and wants to get a workout in. We will meet on the basketball courts from 10:00-11:00. As always, thanks for all support! #runhxc #beelite
