Hello HXC Community,
After an extremely hot week of practice, we are ready to begin our regular season this upcoming week. The weather looks to be slightly better but still warm, so please remind your athlete to be hydrating throughout the day and eating quality meals. We ran our 2nd time trial on Friday and competed great considering the conditions! At race time, the heat index was 102 degrees, and we still posted eight PR’s (personal records) and had many solid performances. The highlight on Friday was watching runners run back on the course after their race to encourage teammates as they were finishing up! This was unprompted by the coaches and really showed the character of our team! As the temperature begins to drop, I have no doubt we will continue to see some great times get posted. This upcoming week we will host two home meets on Tuesday and Thursday. Girls will run at approx. 4:30 and the boys will begin approx. 45 minutes after the start of the girl’s race. Athletes don’t need to sign out from home meets if they are leaving with parents, but we encourage everyone to stay to the end of the meet to encourage their teammates.
We also have pictures tomorrow (Monday), and I believe the information went out on that through 8to18. Please have your athlete bring their jersey to practice whether or not they are ordering pictures. They can still be in our team picture, and it looks good if we are all in our jerseys.
