Track Season Is Getting Close!

Hello HXC community! I hope everyone had a great holiday season and is well rested. For those of you who are joining track, the first day of practice is March 21. If you have not been involved with a club team, now would be a good time to start getting some distance runs in to help build up that base. A good goal would be to start with a 20 minute slow/easy run three days a week (m-w-f). Every two weeks you can increase your time by five minutes, and starting in March, increase the frequency to 4-5 days per week. A good goal is by March 21, a forty minute slow easy run should feel comfortable. Don’t forget to stretch and get properly warmed up beforehand. Running with a friend or small group is always best. If you are involved with a club team, just continue to do what you’ve been doing, and you’ll be ready for outdoor season!
Below is a link for the 3rd annual General Jog 5k hosted by Washington Middle School. This would be a great opportunity to get together with teammates for a 5k before the season starts. See you all soon!
