Troy Week!
September 15, 2019
Hello HXC Community,
After a few weeks of some comfortable running weather, we got blasted back to summer with a heat wave! The weather definitely played a role in slower times on Tuesday, but the team competed well; we even had a few runners hit season PR’s on a miserable day. Thursday was rained out, and Saturday’s time trial had a great turnout for an optional practice.
We will have a meet at Thompson Middle School on Monday. Pictures are on Wednesday, so please have your athlete bring their uniform to practice. Also, this upcoming week is Troy Week! Troy is the largest invite that we go to. With over 60 schools and 2,000 runners throughout the day, it’s an event like no other! Troy is broken down by grade and gender, so every athlete is counted on. This is not an optional race, so please make your athlete is attending unless there is an excused absence. Athletes will need to be at Herget at 6:45 A.M., and we will depart at 7:00 A.M. 6th grade girls and boys will race 1.0 miles, and everyone else will race 2.0 miles. Start times are as follows: 6th girls 9:00, 6th boys 9:15, 7th girls 9:30, 7th boys 10:00, 8th girls 10:30, 8th boys 11:00. Athletes can sign out after they race, but we encourage everyone to stay and cheer on their teammates if possible.
Finally, we have added a new meet to our schedule on Saturday, September 28th at 9:00 A.M. at Herget against Jewel and Millbrook. We typically attend “Tiger Trails” this weekend, but due to some unforeseen issues in Dist. 308 this invitational was cancelled. I’m time trialed out and wanted to keep our team running on Saturday’s, so we put together a small meet. Essentially, this will be like a weekday meet but on a Saturday-two races and no awards. Obviously, this is a last minute add, so if your family had made plans on the 28th then by all means continue on with those plans. However, if your athlete is available then this will be a great opportunity to get one last official race on the home course. We will be racing in the morning and not after a full day of school, so this will be a great opportunity for that season PR! #runhxc #beelite
