Week 5
September 19, 2021
Hello HXC Community,
It was nice to have a five-day week and get some quality work in heading into our invite season. We had a great week of practice with a meet on Tuesday, and those results are now posted on www.runhxc.com. Please note that in XC all courses are different and the distances can often differ too, so it’s hard to compare. I believe Tuesday’s course was running 2.05, while ours runs 1.94-1.96 depending on turns and lines run. Saturday we had a “last chance” time trial on the home course, and I have those posted as well. It was great to see so many athletes show up on Saturday in attempt for one last PR on the home course. Overall, this was probably our best week of practice as many athletes left their comfort zone to really push themselves in order to improve! These types of efforts will pay off over the next weeks as in XC the formula is pretty simple….No deposit, no return.
This upcoming week we have a meet on Tuesday at Peck Farm Park and our Conference meet on Saturday. Saturday invites are considered the “big” meets of our season with teams and individuals getting the opportunity to win awards. On Friday, I handed out an info packet for conference, so hopefully that made it home. All athletes are required to ride the bus to the meet but can sign out with parents after. Athletes will need to arrive at Herget at 7:30 on Saturday morning, and we will depart shortly thereafter, so Girls Varsity has plenty of time to warm up. Meet schedule is as follows:
Girls Varsity (top 7) @ 9:00
Boys Varsity (top 7) @ 9:30
Girls JV @ 10:00
Boys JV @ 10:00
Girls Open @ 10:30
Boys Open @ 11:00
