City Week
October 5, 2022
Hello HXC Community,
After a successful weekend with conference we were coming into the final regular week of the season with a lot of momentum. Times have been steadily dropping and with the temperature finally dropping and a full week of practice we felt good with where were at as a team. City is always one of the highlights of the seasons as its for bragging rights against the Thirteen other schools within Aurora! The morning was perfect for racing and as the clock approached 9:00 our girls varsity was up first.
The girls have really began to peak as a team the last few weeks and we were hoping for one more great effort in order to win our twelfth city title in the last thirteen years. The message was to run aggressive and let points fall where they may. Our girls followed that and in the end just falling a little short but still finishing in 2nd place! We had great efforts form Allie, Mia, Caroline, Sofia, and Maren.
Heading into the boys varsity race we wanted them to learn from last weeks mistakes and really pay attention to our warm up and make sure we were putting ourselves in the best situation to succeed. The boys did a much better job this week and that was shown in our results as we finished as the City Champions by place three runners in the top 10 and all six in the top 25. Finishers were Ben, Lachlan, Asher, Gavin, Teagan, and Ethan.
Girls open was next and great efforts were given by.
Wrapping up the day was our boys open and they again had one of the strongest showings of the day with four boys medaling.
Saturday wrapped up our regular season and going forward only varsity athletes will be practicing and racing. That being said anyone is still welcome to join us at practice if they’d still like to workout. We will be shorting our practice time from 3:45-5:00 as we will begin to taper and will be able to get through our practices a little quicker. For those of our athletes who won’t be joining us, congratulations on a great season! Once again, every single athlete improved throughout the year and found success. Hopefully we will be getting you underclassmen back next year to take another step forward. On the biggest week of year, SECTTIONALS. #runhxc #beelite
